The prostate is a gland located in the lower pelvis, between the bladder and the penis. It has an important function in the process of nutrition and preservation of the sperm by its secretions.

Cryotherapy is a new minimally invasive procedure that freezes the prostate to minus 20 to 40 degrees Centigrade (minus 42 degrees Fahrenheit.) The procedure involves placement of Cryo-Probe needles inside the prostate that will allow the passage of Argon gas that will form ice inside the prostate, and will cause death to cancer cells within a few minutes.

The cryotherapy procedure is effective regardless of the advanced stage of the localized tumor. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia and does not involve any surgical incision. The surgery takes two hours, followed by 23 hours of patient observation in the hospital.
